Master Data Management (short: MDM) is the entirety of all organizational, technical and strategic measures that are taken in the company with regard to master data. Since master data is of central importance for the enterprise, its administration is also correspondingly important. Through this data management, data quality can be increased and the exchange between employees and the various departments can be optimized. In addition, if a company has different systems, programs or platforms, for example, master data management can help to ensure that the data can be better absorbed and processed in them.

Why this is interesting for a Chief Digital Officer (CDO)?
ERP systems ideally map the entire business. This means that digital processes - preferably end-to-end (E2E) processes - are mapped in the system as in the Business Process Map. This avoids media breaks. In addition, you gain unbelievable power to advance your business. Chief Digital Officer (CDO) can transfer very fast the drivers of external digitalization into the internal digitalization - and vice versa.
