Scalability or scalability is basically the capability of growth change.

  • In case of IT:
A scaleable system can answer a lot of requests with nearly the same speed.
    Example: Webserver in the Cloud
  • In Case of Business Models:
A scalable Business Model can serve low or many customers with nearly the same setup.
Example: A software product like e.g. Adobe Photoshop can – once programmed – be copied with nearly no effort. Than it can be sold to nearly infinity numbers of customers.

Scalability is a core element of Startups. Both in regards to business model and IT.
