Secure Sockets Layer (short: SSL) is a term from network technology / cyber security. It is the predecessor term for Transport Layer Security (short: TLS). Many websites that offer HTTPS are based on an SSL certificate.

Why this is interesting for a Chief Digital Officer (CDO)?
Cyber security is one of the most important topics for IT responsibles. Despite the fact that the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) is not responsible for this, he should be involved by the Chief Information Officer (CIO) into these topics.
