Smart locks are electromechanically controlled locks. These can lock or unlock with the help of an authorized device. As a rule, the key used for this purpose is an info code, whereby the data are transmitted via a defined communication protocol. Some applications here include key fobs with integrated codes or smartphone apps. In contrast to other remotely controlled locks, such as the ones used to unlock car doors from a distance, smart locks also monitor the activated points of access and can communicate with other devices.
