Chief (Business) Transformation Officer (short: CBTO of the CTO) is a management position with responsibility for the transformation within the company. Transformation refers to the continuous change in the corporate environment with which the company is constantly confronted. Change can mean both opportunities and risks for a company. In order to ensure the existence of the company, it is necessary to constantly adapt the company to the market and the new market conditions. Whether the change takes place within the framework of digitization or is brought about by other events is insignificant.
The terms Chief Business Transformation Officer and Chief Transformation Officer can be used interchangeably. In practice, both terms are used, but generally refer to the same position.

Why this is interesting for a Chief Digital Officer (CDO)?
Chief Digital Officer (CDO) are - despite current New Work efforts - still part of a (hierarchical) enterprise organization. There are different areas of work at C-level (CxO). The CDO must come to agreements with these.
