An Enterprise Resource Planning (short: ERP) system is used to control company resources. This is intended to ensure that value creation within the company can be carried out as efficiently as possible and that optimum control is given with regard to internal company processes. Well-known ERP systems are SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.

Why this is interesting for a Chief Digital Officer (CDO)?
ERP systems ideally map the entire business. This means that digital processes - preferably end-to-end (E2E) processes - are mapped in the system as in the Business Process Map. This avoids media breaks. In addition, you gain unbelievable power to advance your business. Chief Digital Officer (CDO) can transfer very fast the drivers of external digitalization into the internal digitalization - and vice versa.
