The Internet is a worldwide network which consists of a large number of computers and which enables the use of Internet services (e.g. World Wide Web, Email, Telnet, FTP, etc.). The aim of this worldwide network is to establish connections between computers and thus enable data exchange. In general, any computer can be connected to the Internet. However, the Internet must be separated from the so-called Intranet as well as from the Extranet. The protocols TCP and IP are the most important technical basis.
