The term Cloud has established itself as a short form of the word Cloud Computing. Cloud or cloud computing describes a network of physically separated computers. Usually linked together worldwide. Serving as one coherent system. Through the presence of computers or computer programs that provide services, data or other resources (servers), data/applications are available at any time and can be called up at any time without the called up resource having to be stored/available on the local device. For example, access to social networks, web mail programs and various software can be enabled.

A distinction is also made between the Public Cloud, the Private Cloud, the Hybrid Cloud and the Community Cloud.

Why this is interesting for a Chief Digital Officer (CDO)?
Cloud is one of the pillars of the digital revolution. Business and IT services can be provided very easliy by this. That is the reason why it is important to a Chief Digital Officers (CDO).
