Deepfake is a technology with which one can produce images and videos with the help of artificial intelligence that look very real but are, in fact, fake. By using artificial neural networks, it is possible to reproduce faces so well, or at least manipulate them in such a way, so that fake pictures or videos are created a a result. The danger of such fake media should not be underestimated, since they can spread incredibly quickly over the Internet, and it is very difficult for the affected persons to prove that they are fake because of their high quality. Another problem is that these fakes usually contain some sort of unpleasant or even legally or politically charged content, which can have its own set of consequences, such as, for example, the extensive process of verifying the contents or the damage to one’s reputation, which must be dealt with.
